Infirmary Health Breaks Down EHR Adoption Barriers with ANCILE uPerform™
More than 1,300 Physicians and Support Staff Received Customized EpicCare Training in Less Than 10 Weeks
ELKRIDGE, Md., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ANCILE Solutions, the global leader of learning and performance enablement software solutions chosen by more than 4,400 organizations and over half of the Fortune 100, today announced Infirmary Health's successful implementation of EpicCare® EMR across three acute-care hospitals, powered by the scalable authoring and content management solution, ANCILE uPerform™. To meet HIPAA and compliance requirements and support safety initiatives, Infirmary Health selected ANCILE uPerform™ for customizable training, progress, and knowledge management of more than 850 physicians and 500 supporting staff serving more than 100,000 patients each year.
In November 2013, Infirmary Health initiated the final push towards an electronic health record (EHR) system with the introduction of the EpicCare® EMR. The time constraints driven by the increasing acuity of hospitalized patients, expansion of regulatory demands, and the overall complexity of the healthcare environment, impacted the system adoption by both physicians and staff. Infirmary Health turned to ANCILE uPerform™ training software to ease the speed of developing the curriculum and effectiveness of training.
"We looked closely at other training options, but ultimately, we never could have done this without ANCILE uPerform," said Bobby Zarr, IT Training Lead at Infirmary Health. "We were able to centralize our training and track the progress of each of our 850 physicians, moving our go-live adoption to optimization much quicker than expected. Overall, we sped up our implementation process and lowered our operating costs. We have clearly seen the value of the software and will continue to expand its use in our organization."
ANCILE collaborated with Infirmary Health to quickly design and deploy customizable Epic® uPerform courses, meeting on-demand and remote access needs, as well as address security and compliance requirements. The courses guided education across Order Management and Note Writing, in addition to specific courses for specialty areas, including Surgery and Radiology. In a span of eight weeks, more than 850 physicians and more than 500 support staff were fully trained in the EPIC® software which allowed for a seamless rollout in March 2014. Infirmary Health's in-person training needs were reduced by 33 percent.
"EHRs are a critical tool for improving and enhancing the safety and quality of healthcare, but the complexities ranging from regulatory requirements to employee schedules can severely hinder adoption," said Frank Lonergan, CEO of ANCILE Solutions. "Working with Infirmary Health, we were able to identify their exact access and education pain points and develop a swift, straightforward approach to streamlining content. On-demand availability plays a key role in realizing the meaningful benefits of software investments, such as EHRs, while aligning and easing priorities, process and compliance demands."
