Infradapt Customers Stay Connected Despite Sandy's Wrath
Full Suite of IT Infrastructure Service Offerings Allow Companies to Conduct Business Seamlessly via Replica and Cloud Technology
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As companies along the eastern seaboard resume business following Hurricane Sandy, customers of Infradapt, LLC are grateful to the IT infrastructure and system services that were designed and implemented to retain full functionality during a weather event of this magnitude.
Infradapt, a provider of comprehensive IT consulting, and cloud services hosting provider, allowed their clients the ability to stay connected throughout the hurricane, giving them security to conduct business without disruption and in many cases, remotely without any impact to the customers and clients they serve. Infradapt's solutions range from Infrastructure as a Service, where hardware, software and technical support are bundled into a monthly service fee, to traditional on-premise management of technology, and are scaled to the applicable level of complexity an organization requires, including the ability for a full replica of on-premise infrastructure. In addition, Infradapt's cloud infrastructure--which is designed to handle natural disasters--offers superior performance to many on-premise platforms, which proved especially valuable following the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Infradapt Managing Partner John Reilly explains that traditional enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery solutions are complex and error-prone. "Leveraging the on-demand power of Infradapt's cloud infrastructure allowed our customers to have a virtual replica of their entire physical network infrastructure ready to be activated at a moment's notice. This was key during Sandy when networks were failing and in some cases internal, on-premise systems were literally underwater."
According to Infradapt's customer Fred Baumert of Keast & Hood Co., the structural engineering company's IT systems remained completely operational during the storm. "All users in both our Philadelphia and Washington D.C. offices stayed at home and worked remotely. We were able to conduct business through the Internet, accessing email, files, and critical applications like Hosted AutoCad. We are extremely pleased with the systems Infradapt has put in place to allow us the flexibility and security to conduct business after experiencing one of the worst storms in our history."
Another Infradapt customer, Don Huber of Oskar Huber Furniture adds, "Our fully-hosted telephony PBX system allowed calls to be routed directly to cell phones when our Ship Bottom, N.J. location flooded. After seeing the flexibility of Infradapt's cloud services, we plan to move our data applications over immediately as well."
Infradapt Managing Partner Antonio Haddad explains that in the case of a Brazilian ski travel operator, Maktour, with 16 branches across South America, concerns grew when the customer got word of the major storm heading straight for the region. "Our customer was concerned that there would be major disruption, since the company operates pretty much out of our datacenters in the U.S. Northeast." He continues, "… we could assure the customer that their data was well protected and that our datacenter would not be compromised, because our locations are not in flood-prone areas, operate with redundant power grid services, backup generators, etc. We did share our customer's concerns regarding Internet availability during the storm. We were surprised when the real test happened. Once the storm hit, there was no disruption of Internet service at all. The customer operated out of South America like nothing happened over here! To them this was business as usual."
"The lesson from this storm is that on-premise systems can be more unreliable than systems running far away in a 'bunker like' datacenter facility. It seems counterintuitive, but this is what the experience shows," says Haddad. "It's unfortunate that so many businesses lost so much when in reality there are cost-effective solutions, like Infradapt's, that can help them stay in business even under worst-case scenarios."
