InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA) Announces National Advisory Board
New Board brings seasoned leadership and extensive experience on national security issues represented by experts from Industry, Law Enforcement, Defense and Academia
WASHINGTON, June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, InfraGard, the nation's foremost collaborative partnership between private industry and the Federal government established to protect the nation's critical infrastructure, formally announced the selection of a National Advisory Board. Consisting of industry leaders and subject matter experts, the board will advise InfraGard and the non-profit National Members Alliance (INMA), which manages 85 InfraGard chapters and over 50,000 members around the United States, and will coordinate with governmental partners.
29-year veteran of Federal Law Enforcement Dr. Kathleen L. Kiernan, Chair of INMA, introduced James Norton as Chair of the National Advisory Board. "James and the Board of Advisors represent some of the nation's finest public servants, all of whom have volunteered their time and expertise to help protect our nation's critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats," Kiernan said.
Incoming Advisory Board Chairman James Norton noted that "InfraGard's National Advisory Board Members represent our nation's best and brightest business executives, technology experts, security professionals, public servants, and academics bound together by the common cause of protecting Americans, the communities we live in, the means we live by, and the infrastructure that we live on." Norton is Vice President for General Dynamics C4 Systems Washington Operations. Immediately prior to his work at General Dynamics he served as a member of former Secretary Michael Chertoff's senior executive staff at the Department of Homeland Security as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for legislative affairs. Norton is an adjunct professor with Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and serves on the National Board of Directors for the not for profit Curt and Shonda Schilling Shade Foundation of America helping to prevent skin cancer through education. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and master's degree in management from Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I.
The National Advisory Board will work closely with the Board of Directors and Chapters nationwide, and our government partners, to further InfraGard's collaborations and information sharing relating to pressing threats to our nation's cyber security, communications interoperability, and community emergency management.
