INNOCEAN USA Launches First Campaign As Agency Of Record For NRG Energy
Campaign Highlights NRG's Solar Technology at Lincoln Financial Field
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NRG Energy (www.nrg.com), the nation's largest competitive power company dual-headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey and Houston, Texas, has hired Huntington Beach-based INNOCEAN USA (www.innoceanusa.com) as their full-service advertising agency partner. At the forefront of leading a customer-driven change in the U.S. energy industry, NRG has chosen to partner with INNOCEAN to create a 360-degree campaign, helping to introduce consumers to NRG and their vision of a clean energy future.
"NRG is excited to help empower the vision of a clean energy future and encourage people to change the way they think about and use energy," said Sicily Dickenson, CMO, NRG Energy. "We hope to inspire people to join in the energy conversation and be a part of making a difference for future generations. We believe technologies like solar are here now and are something that people can embrace today."
Launched on the NFL's opening weekend for the 2014-15 season, NRG in partnership with INNOCEAN USA debuted its latest solar campaign, following the brand's tagline, "The Power to Be Free." The campaign highlights NRG's partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles. Working to change the way people think about and use energy, NRG and INNOCEAN set out to leverage the football season and challenge people's view of energy creation and usage, helping consumers reassess their personal energy footprint.
"At INNOCEAN, we're eager to apply our talent, creativity and ingenuity to help redefine how the American audience understands and consumes energy," said Brad Fogel, COO, INNOCEAN USA. "NRG chose INNOCEAN because they understood that we aren't bound by convention. We are young and agile enough to break rules and create a spot-on integrated brand campaign that shows consumers, you actually have a choice in who you want to supply the energy to power up your day-to-day lives. And if you have that choice, why don't you choose a company that believes in doing the right thing instead of the same thing?"
The new campaign includes two commercials, one 30-second spot and one 15-second spot, which aired last Sunday on CBS. The spots, which highlight NRG's solar power technology currently used at the Lincoln Financial Field, juxtapose an old-timey football team – complete with dusty canvas pants and leather helmets – as they enter a modern, crowd-filled stadium powered by NRG solar panels. The integrated campaign also includes radio, OOH and digital components. To see the spot, please visit: http://youtu.be/G7n_wNaMKCY
Launching at the same time is a content partnership with The Huffington Post. Working in conjunction with The Huffington Post to host the "Generation Change" section of their site, NRG believes it is time to start an honest dialog about our energy future on this scale.
INNOCEAN will be working on creative for the global NRG brand along with additional projects for its subsidiary Reliant.
