Rodehorst's session "Health Insurance Exchanges: Plan Management and Qualified Health Plan Certification" – Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. MDT – will provide carriers with insights they can use to address the unknowns now shaping the healthcare landscape. Attendees will also gain valuable insights needed to prepare for participation in government health insurance exchanges (HIX) and realize long-term success. The session will be given as part of AHIP's Exchange Conference.
A veteran of the insurance technology industry, Rodehorst has significant experience working with the public and private-sector entities now creating the nation's health insurance exchanges. Connecture's StateAdvantage is a comprehensive offering that encompasses the technologies and services required for reliable, consumer-friendly HIX solutions.
In her session, Rodehorst will also draw on Connecture's keen understanding of how carriers do business and its track record of providing the customized infrastructure needed to effectively sell and administer the nation's most successful health insurance plans. More than half of the nation's 20 largest health insurance carriers rely on Connecture.
"There is a vibrant discussion occurring throughout the federal government and among the states to ensure the success of the exchanges now being created, but it's imperative that carriers be equally well-informed of the steps they must take," said Rodehorst. "This session will provide attendees with a clear understanding of what's required to get their plans certified, offered in health insurance exchanges and ultimately purchased by consumers in a positive buying experience."
Some of the key questions the session will address – attendees will gain information they can use right now – include:
- What do I need to know about how plans will be managed on and certified by exchanges?
- What standards must be addressed to ensure certification as a qualified health plan?
- What does the implementation timeline for plan management and certification look like, what steps must carriers take, and how might the timeline vary from exchange to exchange?
- What are the most pressing challenges carriers face when it comes to plan management and what can they do to overcome them?
- How can carriers ready their infrastructure for connectivity to health insurance exchanges?
"In the coming days decisions will be made that will forever shape healthcare in the United States," added Rodehorst. "Regardless of what is decided, carriers will need to effectively work and compete in exchanges."
Attendees at Institute 2012 are also invited to visit the Connecture booth – booth #807 – in the Salt Lake City Convention Center's Center Hall, "E" exhibit level.
