WALNUT CREEK, Calif., Nov. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Over 4,000 insurance industry volunteers provided 15,000 hours of service to non-profits across the country as a part of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation's (IICF) Volunteer Week.

During the eight-day industry-wide event, thousands of industry professionals gave back to their local communities through volunteer service. IICF volunteers support hundreds of community nonprofits ranging in focus area from education and youth programs to the environment, with over 500 volunteer projects offered. Since its inception, Volunteer Week has provided over 155,000 hours of service to community organizations.

Expanding its geographical reach in 2011, Volunteer Week mobilizes insurance professionals to make an even greater impact through collaboration. Volunteer projects took place in all three IICF operating divisions spanning AZ, CA, CO, CT, IL, KS, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OK, and UT.
