Internap Opens High-Performance Hybrid Data Center in New York Metro Area Facility delivers maximum flexibility and scalability with full range of hybrid cloud, hosting and colocation services; architected for ultra-high density and availability
ATLANTA, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a provider of high-performance hosting services, today announced the opening of its newest data center, located in Secaucus, N.J. This marks Internap's 12th company-controlled facility nationwide and underscores its strategy to build out a footprint of premium, geographically-distributed data centers. The facility will serve customers in the New York metro area and beyond with Internap's complete portfolio of hybrid IT infrastructure services, including colocation, managed hosting and virtual and bare-metal cloud. Additionally, advanced design features will deliver maximum uptime and some of the highest power densities in the industry.
According to 451 Research, multi-tenant data center utilization in the New York metro market is expected to reach 94 percent by 2014. The Secaucus facility will add 55,000 net-sellable square feet over time to Internap's existing data center capacity in the New York metro area, including 75 Broad Street, which is nearing full capacity.
The state-of-the-art Secaucus facility will serve customers' growing demand for diverse IT infrastructure services that can address a wide range of application and use case requirements, with high-performance, low-latency network delivery. The data center meets these complex needs with Internap's full hybrid portfolio that includes scale-out, highly-automated services, such as its virtual AgileCLOUD and bare-metal cloud AgileSERVER, as well as more customized environments like managed hosting, private cloud and colocation, all of which can be managed seamlessly through a "single pane of glass" portal. Internap's hybrid IT infrastructure is powered by its global, route-optimized Performance IP™ connectivity with patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO) technology, which intelligently scans traffic patterns and delivers applications and content over the fastest path.
Other key features at the new Secaucus facility include:
- Advanced N+1 design with concurrent maintainability ensures maximum uptime and complete infrastructure redundancy.
- Scalable design supports power densities of up to 18kW per rack, among the highest in the industry, and allows customers to scale in place by adding power in-rack without consuming additional floor space.
- Construction includes high-efficiency UPS system, outdoor air cooling system and reclaimed building materials, in accordance with Internap's award-winning green building practices.
- Internap's PlatformConnect service, with Layer 2 VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) technology, allows for the seamless, cost-effective hybridization of its virtual and bare-metal cloud, managed hosting, colocation, storage and other infrastructure services within the Secaucus facility and between other Internap data centers.
- All IT infrastructure services are backed by a 100% uptime Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Convenient location offers easy access to Manhattan, the N.J. Turnpike, the Secaucus Junction train station and the area's three international airports; one of the only facilities in the region that is outside the 500-year flood plain.
"IT infrastructure services are playing an increasingly powerful role in delivering a competitive advantage to Internet-centric organizations through agility, scale, performance and control," said Mike Higgins, senior vice president of data center services at Internap.
