Internap to Participate in GigaOM Pro Webinar on the "Nuts and Bolts of Bare-Metal Clouds"

Roundtable discussion with top cloud influencers and big data company eXelate examines performance benefits of using bare-metal servers with the agility of the cloud

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a provider of high-performance hosting services, today announced that it will participate in a webinar hosted by industry research firm GigaOM Pro on the growing demand for bare-metal clouds – which combine the agility of a traditional public cloud with the security and performance of dedicated servers – on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

One-size-fits-all public cloud offerings cannot meet the performance requirements of all enterprise applications and workloads. The hypervisor layer of these virtualized cloud services can create excess processing overhead, and the multi-tenant environment often results in a "noisy neighbor" effect where virtual machines compete for server resources – all contributing to performance lag. Bare-metal clouds, which are free of these limitations, can significantly improve application performance. However, choosing between bare-metal and virtualized cloud resources is not an either-or scenario; rather, it is about matching the right workload to the right IT infrastructure resources to meet business requirements.

This webinar, "The Nuts and Bolts of Bare-Metal Clouds", will feature a roundtable discussion with cloud hosting industry experts, including David Linthicum – recently ranked one of the top 25 worldwide cloud influencers on Twitter by CloudScreener.com – as well as eXelate, a global, big data platform provider. Panelists will discuss: assessing whether your current cloud service is meeting your performance, security and cost requirements; how to determine whether a bare-metal cloud is right for you, including applications and workloads that are an ideal fit; and how bare-metal cloud can complement a virtual cloud service.
