International Business School Suzhou Signs MOU to Promote CSR in China
SUZHOU, China, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The role of corporate social responsibility in the future of China's evolving business environment was the topic attracting more than 80 executive members of the Suzhou Industrial Park's (SIP) Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance to gather at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) last week. The conference, held at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), was jointly organized by IBSS and the SIP Publicity Spiritual Civilization Office.
Attendees included managers and industry representatives from China and worldwide, as well as Suzhou government officials and professors from XJTLU who came together to share research and insights into the importance of CSR in China.
During the event, IBSS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the SIP CSR Alliance, laying a foundation for a strategic cooperation to promote an ongoing collaboration bridging academia and business to jointly develop socially responsible initiatives.
This move not only highlights IBSS's commitment to developing integrity in business but also ensures that the Business School provides a positive impact and meaningful contribution to society through its education, research and business engagement.
Commenting on the new agreement, IBSS Dean Sarah Dixon explained, "IBSS has signed up to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education, and the signing of this MOU today is a major step forward in implementing some of the concepts and principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. We're very pleased to be collaborating with the SIP CSR Alliance and look forward to having a greater impact on SIP's economy and society."
The Director of the SIP Publicity Spiritual Civilization Office, Mrs. Yao, then spoke on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility to the stability and wellbeing of those who live and work in SIP. "We have gained some experience during the past years, but as for the future development in this area, this organization needs more support from the relevant academic departments. IBSS is what we are looking for and we feel that this is a win-win cooperation. Cooperating with SIP, IBSS can make full use of the resources in SIP, enhancing its connection with foreign and domestic enterprises."
The seminar also included intensive workshops for the participants, the first of which, presented by Dr. Xuanwei Cao, Professor of Management at IBSS, covered Values-based Leadership, Honest Operations and CSR. This was followed by Mr. Eric Ji, Partner and Attorney at Law at the Fangben Law Office who gave an analysis on Contract and Credit System Management of Enterprises.
Speaking after the event, Director Yao highlighted the importance of the cooperation for industry relationships in SIP. "The signing of the strategic cooperation partnership between SIP CSR and IBSS can make full use of the resources of the both parties. We will continually promote the cooperation to standardise the construction and development of CSR in SIP," she said, adding, "the joint research conducted between IBSS and our organisation will lead to the adoption of techniques which will ultimately benefit senior and middle management in SIP and around China."
