Internet Simplicity's Clients Get the Big Picture With Epson WorkForce 1100
LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Internet Simplicity, Inc., a San Jose, Calif.-based company specializing in website development and programming, found an easier way to communicate complex concepts to clients by using large-sized printouts from the high-speed Epson WorkForce 1100 wide-format printer.
"We find that most people hate reading technical descriptions of software," said Reilly Sweetland, founder and president of Internet Simplicity. "The light bulb only goes on when we help clients visualize how a piece of software will work. So, we came up with a process to create visual software specs for clients, using large diagrams on 13" by 19" Epson printouts that explain how everything works."
Keeping It Simple
A designer recently approached Internet Simplicity to help launch a new e-commerce site. "I already designed the website," insisted the customer. "So, there can't be that much more to do, right?" Like many before him, he did not initially understand the extensive behind-the-scenes effort of back-end website developers like Internet Simplicity, who often take over website projects after completion of the observable or front-end design.
To create better websites, Internet Simplicity focuses on web programming and content management, building web applications, usually in partnership with designers. "Web usability, page load time, interaction with modern browsers, smartphone and tablet capability, search engine performance, order fulfillment and security – those are some of the key issues in our world that often need to be explained to clients," said Sweetland. "Our Epson WorkForce printer has allowed us to present more engaging specs in large visual form to take the mystery out of what we do."
Seeing is Believing
Although immersed in cyberspace, Internet Simplicity developers often refer back to software specifications on paper, rather than just on-screen PDFs. "Sometimes having something tangible in our hands next to the computer helps us get the job done more efficiently," said Sweetland. With large prints up to 13" by 19," they can view every detail on color prints that are smudge-, fade- and water-resistant.
"The better the image quality, the higher the success rate in communicating and selling our ideas to clients," he said. With 4-color DURABrite® Ultra pigment ink, the WorkForce 1100 can print standard-size documents, index cards, brochures, stationery or large spreadsheets, creating marketing and business materials in a variety of sizes. Internet Simplicity also uses the wide-format printer to create colorful artwork for its office walls. In addition to high-quality output, the printer offers convenient, two-sided printing, so small businesses like Internet Simplicity can use less paper.
Signing the Deal
After looking over the printed specs of the e-commerce project, Internet Simplicity's prospective client finally saw the big picture and understood what had to be done. "Having something to give him on paper – rather than the computer screen – simplified the whole process and showed him exactly what he would be paying for," said Sweetland. By the end of the day, Internet Simplicity had signed up another customer.
"We've been fortunate to work with clients who want to stretch the envelope of technology, as well as some amazingly talented graphic design partners who make our developments and websites shine," said Sweetland. To better serve and communicate with clients, Internet Simplicity has made the fast and efficient Epson WorkForce 1100 an invaluable small business partner.
