PITTSBURGH, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- "I'm a physical therapist, and I thought we could solve a longstanding problem in the rehab world by having objective feedback to improve adherence to post-surgical weight-bearing restrictions and enhance weight-bearing tendencies in the non-surgical individual," said one of two inventors from Mena, Ark. "So we invented the patent pending GAITKEEPER."
The invention provides an objective way to monitor and advance weight-bearing restrictions for orthopedic patients. In doing so, it offers the patient real time feedback to ensure they are getting the necessary therapeutic loading for optimal tissue healing. As a result, it could encourage better compliance and functional outcomes, and enhance safety and peace of mind. The invention features an effective design that is convenient and easy to use, so it is ideal for medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, sports rehab and performance centers, universities, military rehab facilities and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, it is producible in design variations.
The inventors described the invention design. "Our design provides a better way to collect data and monitor weight-bearing restrictions for patients."
The original design was submitted to the Ottawa office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
