Invision by the Associated Press and MomentumXR to Stream 2016 Oscars Red Carpet in Virtual Reality
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Virtual Reality technology and media company, MomentumXR (MXR) announced a collaboration with Invision, AP's entertainment arm, to capture high-profile entertainment events including this weekend's Academy Awards red carpet. MXR and Invision produced live-stream and VOD content in Virtual Reality straight from the red carpets of Star Wars: The Force Awakens Premiere, Screen Actors Guild Awards and most recently, The Grammys. In addition to the production, live-stitching, streaming and editing, MXR is the world's first end-to-end Virtual Reality Platform that turns brands into publishers and syndicates content globally via traditional and nontraditional distribution avenues.
The Invision/MXR collaboration joins the synergies of the world's most trusted and comprehensive news agency and the first of its kind content capture, edit and distribution Virtual Reality platform.
"I could not be more pleased about this partnership," said Geneva Wasserman, Co-Founder of MXR. "I myself was an employee of Invision by the Associate Press for many years and this feels like coming home. As the Director of Business Development at Invision, I could see that technology is changing the way we experience content. When I first saw an Oculus demonstration 3 years ago at Comic-Con, I knew that if we made VR easy and accessible, we could change visual storytelling and connect with audiences like never before imagined."
"Today's audiences demand engagement, connection, curation and customization. Virtual Reality, 360 photo and video are the best tools the world has ever seen to accomplish this," added MXR CEO Jonas Hudson.
"Our readers cannot get enough of red carpets. What are they wearing, who are they with. They look to Invision/AP to bring them on the red carpet and we can now bring them closer than ever before," said Dan Becker, Managing Director of Invision.
For the 88th Academy Awards red carpet, MXR has teamed up with Alx Klive at 360 Designs and Blackmagic Designs Cinema cameras to use the most up to date, cutting edge 360 capture technology and techniques.
This collaboration seeks to bring immersive visual story telling and technology to a larger audience. MXR, via brand and distribution partnerships will bring the content to new audiences and Invision, with its large, established network will introduce this platform to its members and beyond. Additionally, MXR content will be distributed via Oculus Share, Google Cardboard, mobile and desktop embedded players (without the need for additional viewing devices) and non-traditional platforms like the DigitalFood app distributed through Kroger's FoodsCo and Food4Less grocery chains.
