BOCA RATON, Fla., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- iPic Entertainment, the fastest-growing luxury movie-watching experience in the nation, recognized for building visionary movie theater "escapes," today announces the appointment of James Beard-recognized Chef Sherry Yard as corporate vice president of culinary direction for all iPic Theaters and restaurants launching throughout the country.
Yard's appointment underscores iPic's commitment to providing high-quality, chef-driven cuisine both in theater and in its bar and restaurant concepts. In her new role, Yard will oversee culinary direction for all existing and upcoming restaurant concepts for iPic Entertainment, including Tanzy, Tanzy Express, Big Daddy's Brew & Que, Salt and Salt Sports Bars.
"iPic prides itself on delivering an affordable luxury experience to moviegoers, and a cornerstone of that experience is our commitment to providing exceptional chef-driven cuisine and master mixology to our guests," says President and CEO of iPic Entertainment Hamid Hashemi. We look forward to enabling her to further pursue her passion for her craft via the iPic guest experience."
"I have always been such a fan of iPic Entertainment and am thrilled to partner with a brand that has truly been a leader in the category," Yard says. "Hamid and his team have created a remarkable opportunity to really enhance the overall experience for moviegoers, and I look forward to working with them to create a place where people come for the movie and stay for the food."
A Brooklyn native, Yard began her illustrious culinary career at the venerable Rainbow Room, followed by stints at Montrachet and Tribeca Grill. She later moved west to California, where she established herself as a prominent pastry chef at San Francisco's Campton Place, followed by a move to Los Angeles to work with Wolfgang Puck. Yard has twice earned James Beard awards for 'Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year' and 'Best Baking Book Debut' for her cookbook "The Secrets of Baking".
