Students across North America are invited to test their skills at selecting a portfolio of five promising Israeli companies from a group of 85 that are currently listed on NASDAQ.
The Richtol Exchange Israel Stock Picking Challenge for Students, hosted at www.Richex.org, is intended to expose students to the workings of the stock market, while promoting Israeli entrepreneurship and innovation. Participation in the competition is fun, free, and educational. It is open to students, schools, teachers, and parents – all of whom are encouraged to participate.
The Richex.org stock picking challenge was developed and is administered by Maxwell Rotbart, a Jewish day school teacher and educational entrepreneur. The first challenge begins on February 29 - Leap Day - and will run for two months. New challenges will take place every three months.
Richex is designed to introduce students – on their own or in a classroom setting – to basic stock-picking concepts and skills, while simultaneously increasing their awareness of the businesses that are central to Israel's economic growth and well-being.
After reviewing the large slate of Israeli stocks listed on the NASDAQ exchange, students are tasked with selecting five stocks and tracking them for a period of two months. At the conclusion of each challenge, students are notified how their portfolio of stocks performed, and how they fared in comparison with other students from around North America who also participated. Top performers in each challenge will be listed (by first name, last initial, grade, and city) on the Richex.org website. The only value (other than intrinsic education) in winning each Richtol Exchange Israel Stock Picking Challenge for Students is bragging rights. There is no cash value prize.
Sometimes described as the Start-Up Nation, Israel is a global influencer in fields that include technology, agribusiness, energy, conservation, defense, healthcare, and telecommunications.
The Richtol Exchange is named in memory of Donald Manuel Richtol z'l, and in honor of his wife, Barbara. Richex.org was officially launched on the one-year anniversary of Don's passing in January 2015.
