NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Prosecco DOC Consortium is proud to be a main sponsor of the 2013 Eni FIM World Superbike's return to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 27-29, for the tour's lone stop in the United States.

Through its association with the Superbike events, the Consortium seeks to underline the very dynamic and trendy character of Prosecco DOC and expanding awareness among an active and young international crowd of the wine's versatility.
Prosecco DOC will have a prominent role in all the key phases of the race. First and foremost, the victory will be celebrated by uncorking a magnum of Prosecco DOC on the top step of the podium. Furthermore, Prosecco DOC will be the protagonist of all the toasts taking place during the "paddock show" celebrations, when the winning pilots meet their public. Finally, it will be offered to all guests of the VIP lounge.
The Superbike races are a great occasion to display the new international campaign of Prosecco DOC and its headline – "Italian Genio". In the first semester of 2013, sales of Prosecco DOC experienced 20% growth compared to the same period in 2012. Some 60% of that growth takes place abroad. The total production of Prosecco DOC amounts to 230 million bottles, produced by 1,344 wine producers with grapes grown by over 10,000 growers.
Such continuous growth of Prosecco DOC in the international markets is mainly due to its peculiar traits and quality, guaranteed by the Controlled Designation of Origin status. With a flowery and fruity bouquet and its fresh and light flavor profile, Prosecco DOC is the perfect partner for the Superbike races: exciting, full of verve, easy to drink yet sophisticated and celebratory.
Prosecco's characteristics are closely tied to the traditions and climate of its homeland, the Northeastern part of Italy. Protected by the Alps and caressed by the breezes of the Adriatic Sea, the area is home to some of Italy's most famous cities such as Treviso, Vicenza, Padua, Belluno, Trieste and the peerless Venice. The mild climate and stunning beauty of this region are entirely reflected by Prosecco DOC, a perfect symbol of the unique Italian lifestyle.
