Itau Unibanco publishes its 2014 Integrated Report and Consolidated Annual Report
For the second consecutive year, the largest private bank in Latin America publishes its principal financial and non-financial information in pioneering formats
SAO PAULO, May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Itau Unibanco launched its 2014 Integrated Report and Consolidated Annual Report which includes information not just on its financial performance, structure, activities and operations, but also strategy and social and environmental initiatives for the year 2014. These are two important documents which underscore the company's commitment to transparency, accountability and engagement with its various stakeholders.
The 2014 edition of the reports enhances Itau Unibancos's focus on concision and simplification of information, linking its strategy to short, medium and long term results. The two reports include the Matrix of Material Matters, showing the company's priorities in terms of management and stakeholder engagement. "The consolidation of information and the presentation of priority themes aim to provide guidance for stakeholder decision-making in relation to the bank", explains Alexsandro Broedel, executive director for Finance at Itau Unibanco.
"The changes and the pioneering format of the reports are a reflection of a dynamic process which has mobilized several departments within the bank with the common objective of assisting stakeholder understanding of how the organization produces its results and generates shared value for clients, stockholders, society and employees alike", adds Marcelo Kopel, Itau Unibancos's Investor Relations director.
Background - Itau Unibanco was a pioneer among financial institutions in Brazil and also one of the first banks in the world to sign up to the pilot program for the IIRC (International Integrated Reporting Council) integrated reports in 2013. In 2014, the bank published the first version of its Report in accordance with guidelines under the IIRC framework. That same year, Itau also announced its first Consolidated Annual Report, a compendium of the Annual Sustainability Report, the 20F Form and the Debt Report (MTN). Both reports are subject to an independent audit, underscoring Itau's focus on the integrity and consistency of information.
In March 2015, the Integrated Report's first edition earned the bank the BeyondBanking accolade, awarded by the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB). The bank was recognized in the clearBanking category, which encompasses successful practices adopted by financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean in risk management, transparency and corporate governance in the financial sector.
