It's Back Again: McDonald's® Announces the Return of the McRib® Sandwich to Participating New York Tri-State Area Restaurants
The elusive sandwich only available for a limited time
ROSELAND, N.J., Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The most mysterious sandwich on the planet has once again returned to melt the hearts of consumers in the New York Tri-State area. The famous McRib is back beginning today for a limited time in all participating McDonald's restaurants. The McRib, a boneless pork patty topped with slivered onions, dill pickle slices, tangy barbeque sauce and served on a toasted, golden-brown home-style bun, has been the most elusive product on McDonald's menu for nearly 30 years.
"For all those barbeque sauce-loving McRib fanatics, we're pleased to bring back this iconic sandwich and make it available to our customers in the New York Tri-State area," said Tony Scari, President of the McDonald's New York Tri-State Area Owner/Operators Association. "Unlike any other sandwich, the McRib maintains a following that is passionate about its taste and unique persona. The McRib is only back for a limited time in the New York Tri-State area."
The Quest for the Golden McRib
To help celebrate the return of the McRib, McDonald's has built a digital consumer engagement experience that tests people's passions for this mysterious sandwich. Starting today, McRib fans can visit McDonald's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/mcdonalds) and play "The Quest for the Golden McRib," a magical game where the user encounters creative and fun challenges and mythical characters, such as a boxing grizzly bear or a disco dancing pirate, to locate ten golden McRib sandwiches 'virtually' hidden in select McDonald's restaurants nationwide.
