BOSTON, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- 5 Wits Boston has announced that it will be closing TOMB, its wildly successful attraction that has been a staple of Boston entertainment since opening in 2004. TOMB will remain open through Labor Day, September 6th 2010. This summer will be the last chance for guests to experience TOMB at its Fenway location and in its current form. Tickets are already selling out and with the news of its impending closure 5 Wits expects the trend to continue.
TOMB is closing to relocate to a more prominent location and to provide an opportunity to upgrade elements of the experience. In TOMB, guests play the role of archaeologists who are trapped in a Disney-caliber recreated ancient Egyptian burial chamber by the ghost of a pharaoh. They must solve a series of puzzles and challenges in order to make it out alive. Equal parts, museum exhibit, live-action video game, theatrical production, and haunted house, TOMB is unlike any other attraction in existence.
"After well over 300,000 guests and six straight years of operation we want to improve the experience and make sure it matches the high quality of the two new adventures opening this summer at Patriot Place in Foxborough," said President and CEO Matthew DuPlessie. "TOMB was opened in 2004 as an experiment — exploring an entirely new type of family entertainment — and now it's time for the next phase of that experiment. This is a great opportunity to upgrade TOMB with new puzzles and special effects using everything we've learned from our guests."
5 Wits Boston is located at 186 Brookline Ave. and is open 7 days a week through Labor Day. Tickets are $16 per child and $20 per adult. For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.5-wits.com or call 617-375-9487.
