HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- James Cameron has been cleaning up at the movie award ceremonies this year winning Best Director and Best Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards and receiving a stellar nine Oscar nominations for the March Academy Awards.  He has also received seven nominations for the Green Globe Film Awards with Best Picture, Best Action Film, Best Science Fiction Film, Best Director, Best Music/Song in a Film, 10 Best Pictures of the Decade, and 10 Best Filmmakers of the Decade.

The highly celebrated Canadian film director, producer, screenwriter, editor and inventor has been competing with his former wife Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker) who took the Best Director Award at the 2010 Directors Guild of America Awards and Producers Guild Awards.  Bigelow tied Cameron with nine Oscar nominations this year, and the Green Globes may give Cameron the upper hand in the award race as Bigelow only received one Green Globe nomination for Best Picture, as opposed to Cameron's seven.

Awards will be presented to leading major motion picture, environmental, humanitarian, animated and international filmmakers, movies and actors.  The Grand Sponsor of the event, the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, will be hosting the Green Globe Film Awards and Emperor's Dreams Dinner Gala on March 23, 2010 in the California Ballroom with a 1,200 person sit-down dinner banquet and surprise performances by Hollywood's and Asia's top entertainers. The Bonaventure is a location featured in two of Cameron's movies - True Lies and Strange Days.
