BOSTON and JEDDAH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Al Derea LLC, one of Saudi Arabia's leading real estate developers, has named J/Brice Design International, Inc. to design a new luxury Hyatt Hotel in Jeddah, KSA that will figure prominently in the city's growth as a world center for business, learning and tourism.

The new property, scheduled to open in the fourth-quarter of 2015, will become the second Hyatt Hotel (http://www.hyatt.com) in Jeddah.
In making the announcement, Al Derea LLC (www.alderea.com) noted that the 320-guestroom hotel was designed by world-renowned Quantum AIP Architects (www.quantum-aip.com). The 12-story contemporary property enhances the streetscape with a two-story, all-glass facade that is visually inviting and creates a play of light on the exterior that is in concert with the hues of the setting desert sun.
"Our vision for the interiors will reflect the contemporary, international lifestyle which is closely associated with Jeddah, which has for centuries been a gateway to the Saudi Kingdom for millions of travelers and pilgrims every year, and now a hub for international business," said Jeffrey Ornstein, CEO and founder of J/Brice Design.
The J/Brice Design International (www.jbricedesign.com) appointment follows on the heels of two other major projects in Saudi Arabia where this Boston-based design firm is playing a transformative role in the branding of the Middle East. Earlier, the Fakieh Group (www.fakiehgroup.com) retained J/Brice to design upscale restaurants at the state-of-the art Sea Wonders Aquarium – a major visitor attraction in the region. J/Brice has also designed the soon-to-open and first Kempinski Hotel in Saudi Arabia, as well as private villas for Saudi Sheikhs.
Said Ornstein who founded J/Brice Design in 1989, "Jeddah is the most diverse and international city in the region. It is a global center for business, education and finance as well being the gateway to Mecca. The city ranges from the deeply traditional to an international jet-set lifestyle that includes world-renowned eateries and a luxury retail district rivaling Rodeo Drive for fashion and luxury. The young urban Saudis are world travelers and bring their sense of style and expectation to a higher level back home."
He added, "Our involvement sets the bar for future hospitality projects as the city strives to meet demand for guestrooms, conference venues and entertainment during a period of burgeoning economic activity."
Industry observers recognize J/Brice Design for redefining the hospitality experience, particularly in the luxury sector, throughout the Middle East. In addition to the Saudi Kingdom, other projects include The Grand Heritage Hotel and Spa, designed for the Royal Family of Qatar, and in a recent expansion to North Africa, The Royal Tulip in Alexandria, Egypt.
Having directed signature projects in excess of $5 Billion on five continents, J/Brice has become an internationally recognized style leader. Ornstein's opinions are frequently expressed in Lodging Hospitality, Hospitality Design, and Hotel Business among others. He is a sought-after keynote speaker at industry seminars in the Middle East and Europe where real estate developers, hospitality asset managers and investors, and CEOs of the world's major chains attend to hear Ornstein's American voice detail his unique approach to hospitality design in the global market – an approach based on a fashion first perspective that focuses on the guest instead of the architecture.
In addition to his fashion-first methodology, Ornstein is credited with coining the term Cultural Spy to describe his ability to incorporate socio-economic, art, popular culture and political winds into hotels that have become the bellwether of 21st Century hospitality design.
