Jeff Daniels & Madeleine Stowe Host ADL's Honoring Of "Heroes Against Hate" At the Kennedy Center
Auschwitz Survivor, Civil Rights Icon, 9-11 Police Officer's Family, & Son of Wisconsin Sikh Temple Victim, To Receive Awards

WASHINGTON, Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will honor four heroes in the fight against hate and intolerance at this year's 18th annual ADL In Concert Against Hate at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC on Monday, October 15. The event recognizes individuals for extraordinary acts of courage in confronting intolerance, injustice, extremism and terrorism. Jeff Daniels (HBO's The Newsroom) and Madeleine Stowe (ABC's Revenge) will host and narrate the concert after the honorees are presented their awards at the Ina and Shelley Kay Award Dinner. The National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Emil de Cou , will perform the evening's concert. This year's Patron Chairs are Dr. Tina Alster and Mr. Paul Frazer .

About the honorees:
Irene Fogel Weiss
A Holocaust survivor, Irene Fogel Weiss was thirteen years-old when she and her family were deported to Auschwitz by the Nazis. Years later she would learn that her arrival at Auschwitz had been captured in a photograph taken by the Nazis. Irene Fogel Weiss will accept the Award.
Joan Trumpauer Mulholland
A Freedom Rider and civil rights activist, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland participated in the sit-in at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Jackson, Mississippi in May, 1961. The photograph of a mob surrounding the three sit protesters is regarded as one of the iconic images of the Civil Rights Movement. Joan Trumpauer Mulholland will accept the Award.
Police Officer Moira Ann Smith
Police Officer Moira Ann Smith is credited with saving the lives of hundreds of people at the World Trade Center on September 11th. For her bravery she was posthumously awarded the New York City Police Department's Medal of Honor. Police Officer Moira Ann Smith 's husband, James Smith , and their daughter, Patricia Mary , will accept the Award.
Amardeep Singh Kaleka
On August 5, 2012, a white supremacist attacked the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, killing six people, including the temple's founder, Satwant Singh Kaleka . As the tragedy unfolded, and in the days and weeks that followed, Satwant Singh Kaleka 's son, Amardeep, emerged as the voice of the Sikh community of Oak Creek. Amardeep Kaleka , will accept the Award, accompanied by his wife, Neelu Brar , mother, Satpal Kaleka , and father's sister, Jaswinder Dhillon .
