PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announces the launch of nonstop service between Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Five daily flights will begin on May 23, 2013 with low fares and an ideal schedule for the business traveler. To celebrate its 78th city, the airline has launched a special $17.76 independence fare, for travel between May 28 and June 19, 2013, to please all clam chowder and cheesesteak fans alike (a).
"Five JetBlue flights every day definitely beats a long drive, or the current air alternative," said Scott Laurence, JetBlue's vice president of network planning. "We're pairing this convenient business schedule with fares accessible to all. Plus, all of our customers will enjoy the best service in the skies from our award-winning crewmembers while enjoying the most legroom of any airline, free and unlimited snacks and drinks, and free live entertainment."
"We are absolutely thrilled that travelers in the Philadelphia region will now have convenient access to JetBlue, an airline that has distinguished itself with the kind of innovation and customer service that we value," said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. "I want to congratulate JetBlue for recognizing the value of doing business with the greater Philadelphia region and business community."
Philadelphia International Airport CEO Mark Gale added: "JetBlue offers an exciting, customer-friendly experience to air travelers, and we are confident that the traveling public in the Philadelphia region will enthusiastically embrace JetBlue's excellent service to Boston. This is yet another great option in low-cost airlines at PHL, helping to stimulate competition and promote lower fares."
JetBlue has added an average of five new destinations per year from its Boston focus city since service first launched in 2004, and now serves more cities than any other airline in Logan's entire history as an airport. In the past year alone, the airline has added nonstop service from Boston to Dallas, Texas; Grand Cayman; St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands; and Nantucket, Mass., with plans to serve Charleston, S.C. in early 2013.
