Jewish Federation Volunteers to Raise $4 million This Sunday
The Federation's Super Sunday Shows Strength of Community
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles will host Super Sunday, the L.A. Jewish community's single biggest fundraising day of the year. More than 500 volunteers in two locations will call thousands of community members in an all day phone-a-thon to raise more than $4 million for essential human service programs the Federation supports including emergency cash grants, food pantries, job training, literacy services, and serving the vulnerable in our community. The majority of the programs the Federation funds are non-sectarian, and benefit the entire Los Angeles community.
"This single day of fundraising makes a difference all year long to people throughout our community who are facing difficult times. Only Federation is able to harness the strength of community to meet the challenges so many people throughout Los Angeles are facing," said Jay Sanderson, President of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. "Super Sunday shines a spotlight on the Jewish community's generosity, benefitting the greater Los Angeles community, while also helping to ensure the Jewish future."
Prominent state and local elected officials confirmed to attend and show their support on Super Sunday include Congresswoman Diane Watson, California Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, State Senator Alex Padilla, Assemblymember Mike Feuer, L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, L.A. City Controller Wendy Greuel, L.A. City Councilmember Paul Koretz and L.A. City Councilmember Dennis Zine.
