NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Six years after her last album, Ghost In My Head, singer-songwriter/actress, Jill Hennessy will release the stunning follow-up, I Do, on October 2 and officially launch the album with an exclusive show October 5 at The Cutting Room in NYC and two public performances celebrating the release of her new album on October 12 at The Cutting Room and October 14 at Joe's Pub.
Well worth the wait, I Do contains 11 new original songs that once again showcase Hennessy's deep love and understanding of classic rock n roll with deep storytelling, as evidenced by such tracks as Something's Comin', I Do, Edmonton, Marsha G and Aimee.
"I Do is primarily a collection of stories about love, relationships and loss - the beauty and the pain and the sacrifice between any two people in love… be it husband/wife, mother/child, child/parent, etc…" says Hennessy. The title track, I Do, explores the beauty and the struggles of marriage, while many other songs (Marsha G, Aimee, Digging My Own Grave, Cross the River and Heaven) deal with the seismic upheaval and pain of losing that love. The beauty lies in finding faith in something invisible that can sustain us and remaining hopeful that love never fades away…it always endures. Edmonton deals with the sacrifice of any immigrant leaving their homeland to find a better life and future for their family"
Hennessy wrote all of the music and lyrics for I Do over a two-year span from 2011-2012, and produced the album in Austin, Texas with the same core band featured on her debut. Notable new contributions came from guitarist and Austin mainstay, Will Sexton, mandolin player, Kym Warner (The Green Cards) and veteran drummer Dony Wynn (Robert Plant, Robert Palmer). The album was mixed by the "bullet-proof" Sean Beavan (Guns N' Roses, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails).
I Do continues from where Ghost In My Head left off; themes of beauty and sacrifice that come with any long-term relationship are explored. At I Do's heart is the ability to find hope and love despite struggle and loss.
"Love is not so simple… but I Do" – Jill Hennessy
Born in Edmonton, AB (which gets a nod on I Do's Edmonton), Hennessy is best known for her starring roles on "Law & Order" and "Crossing Jordan". Hennessy was nominated for a People's Choice Award for her work in "Crossing Jordan" and won a Golden Satellite Award for her work in TNT's "Nuremberg" with Brian Cox and Alec Baldwin. Hennessy recently appeared in HBO's "Luck" with Dustin Hoffman and several episodes of the CBS hit drama "The Good Wife" and as of October 4 will appear in a recurring role on the CBS hit political drama "Madam Secretary" starring Tea Leoni.
Praise for I Do:
"Jill's raised her own standard, and delivered completely on things that were maybe only a promise on the first record. I couldn't be happier for her… and for me. What a relief to find this gem of an album that's living and breathing. Stronger than the first one in a whole bunch of ways, really builds her a fortress to sing from. The insights in the songs are as deep and beautiful as always… Such a command of good songs! Brava!" Dave Marsh, Sirius XM Radio
"I Do is the kind of record we all love, but get so little of these days. Intimate and powerful vocals, head - jogging lyrics and a killer band. Jill is most obviously a musician who acts, not an actress who has a band. Furthermore, this album was recorded and mixed so expertly and carefully that the intensity of her impressive band never obscures the vocals. Any drummers hearing this record will truly be drooling." Greg Calbi, Sterling Sound
