Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln and Folk Customs Museum Awarded "National 5A Scenic Spot" Ranking
JINGDEZHEN, Jiangxi Province, China, April 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 11, Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln and Folk Customs Museum (referred to as Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln), after strict assessment procedures, was officially approved as a "National AAAAA Scenic Spot" by the National Commission for Scenic Quality Assessment.
The success of Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln in applying for the 5A level scenic spot ranking has extraordinary historical significance and irreplaceable effect in reality. Firstly, it expands the scale of 5A-level scenic spots in Jiangxi Province, raising the number to six. Secondly, it is the first and only national 5A scenic spot with ceramic culture as the theme. Thirdly, it is the first national 5A-class tourist attraction to be located in a downtown area. All of these factors will play a crucial role in stimulating Jingdezhen's urban construction and the development of tourism in Jiangxi Province.
In October 2009, the largest wood fired kiln, the Qing Dynasty Jingdezhen Kiln, was successfully reactivated in its ancient spot. The Jingdezhen Kiln also became the world's largest wood-fired kiln, an achievement that was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. Since then, the Ming Dynasty Gourd Kiln, Yuan Dynasty Steamed-bun Kiln and the Song Dynasty Dragon Kiln have all been reactivated. CCTV "Discovery" produced two 90-minute episodes of "Relighting the Gourd Kiln". After its broadcast, it triggered a nationwide kiln craze, attracting not only the attentions of masters of arts and crafts and ceramic history and the research community, but also many domestic and foreign tourists. Tourists have said that walking in the Ancient Kiln is like strolling the long river of history. With historical pictures of the kiln system's development, it is a worthwhile trip.
The Ancient Kiln's successful application for the national 5A-class tourist attraction ranking is a substantive result of the creation of the Ancient Kiln Brand. It is also the beginning of its new journey of "Beautiful Ancient Kiln, Chinese Service".
The Ancient Kiln people have a more ambitious dream, which is to make Jingdezhen traditional furnace skills and kiln firing skills a world intangible cultural heritage. Their dreams and glory will be illuminated by the light of the kiln fire and their hard work.
