Hundreds of participants and their pets participated in 2014's first annual event, raising nearly $40,000. This year the JLACF hopes to raise over $50,000!
The Event will feature special guest Christine Nagy, a Radio Personality, Actress, Animal Rights and Charity supporter, currently the co-host of The Bronson and Christine Show, weekday mornings on 106.7 Lite-FM in NYC. Having lost her beloved cat Mickey to Lymphoma at the young age of 6, Christine recognizes that the work the JLACF does "...is so important because it makes treatment possible for families that might not have been able to afford this much needed option."
Additionally, Vito Vincent the "celebrity cat" will be in attendance. Since his adoption from a Brooklyn animal shelter, Vito Vincent has become a real star, appearing on Thirty Rock, Colbert Nation, and starring on Broadway in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Vito Vincent has many talents, but also gives back as a certified pet therapist for people.
"Cancer affects millions of animals' lives each year" states Dr. Joshua Lachowicz, a board certified Veterinary Oncologist and co-founder of the JLACF. "Over 20% of animals over 5, and nearly 50% over 10 years old will be diagnosed with cancer." Through education and financial support, the JLACF provides our pets with optimal care.
"All of us at the JLACF are volunteers, and we do this because we understand the importance that our furry friends have in our lives. Countless studies have documented the relationship between animal companionship and human physical and psychological health" notes Dr. Joshua.
If you would like to be a sponsor of the event, please contact the JLACF. Dr. Joshua Lachowicz is also available for interviews.
