Company to Expand Global Philanthropic Efforts
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- JM Eagle, the world's largest manufacturer of plastic pipe, today announced that is has become a member of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).
Each member of CGI creates a Commitment to Action—a plan to take specific steps to make the world a better place. JM Eagle will expand its philanthropic efforts to provide people in some of the poorest nations in the world with clean, safe drinking water. Today, JM Eagle pipe is carrying clean water to more than 125,000 people in seven countries in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa and to another 13,000 poverty-stricken families in 63 Senegal villages through an ongoing association with Columbia University's Earth Institute.

JM Eagle has supported efforts to bring clean water to communities in developing countries around the world believing it is one of the essential needs to effectively address illness and poverty. The company has provided plastic pipe and other materials to transport drinking water in Honduras and has supported a project to develop water delivery and sanitation systems for needy communities in Northern Thailand.
According to world charity organizations, one in five people in developing countries has no access to safe drinking water and 2.2 million people die each year from water-borne illness, 90 percent of them children under the age of five..
As part of JM Eagle's commitment to strengthen local communities, the company recently donated materials and volunteer support to Habitat of Humanity of Greater Los Angeles helping to complete the building of a number of sustainable homes in the area.
JM Eagle has been widely recognized for its charitable giving. Earlier this month, Walter Wang and his wife, Shirley Wang, received the 2010 Public Service Award from the Asia Pacific American Legal Center for their commitment to improving the global community through their philanthropic activities in China, Africa and the United States.
