TROY, Mich., Jan. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Jodi Debbrecht Switalski, Judge of the 51st District Court in Waterford and Gubernatorial appointee, has resigned her position to join the firm of Giarmarco, Mullins & Horton, P.C. in the firm's Family Law Group. Jodi plans on concentrating her practice in the areas of family law, criminal, municipal and medical malpractice.
For over 25 years, Judge Jodi has been on the front lines on issues surrounding substance abuse and dependency with attention to Veterans. While working as a child protection worker, a prosecutor or in her judicial role, she has advocated recovery. Jodi also serves as Senior Associate for The Stutman Group (www.thestutmangroup.com) and has become a pioneer in the State of Michigan and around the country, initiating an early response to the synthetic drug and opioid epidemic, orchestrating seminars in schools, private institutions, corporations, judicial and law enforcement organizations, medical professionals and more. She co-founded the Regional Anti-Drug Education and Outreach program (www.RADEO.org), which has received numerous accolades, and she also serves on Oakland County's Prescription Drug Task Force.
Along with her community advocacy, she operates highly successful sobriety/drug and domestic violence treatment courts and founded one of the first veteran's treatment courts in Michigan, extending this education and advocacy to a new class of individuals - our heroes, the men and women returning from military service.
Judge Jodi earned her undergraduate degree in psychology with an emphasis in children with behavioral disorders, studied in her graduate program in human development and completed her juris doctorate in 2003. She was unanimously selected to receive the state wide, first ever "Integrity in our Communities" Award from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School and was recently appointed as a member of the State Drug Treatment Court Advisory Committee. She is a frequent guest on a number of TV and radio shows and has appeared before hundreds of audiences in the U.S. of varying demographics.
