Julie Frantsve-Hawley, RDH, PhD Appointed New Executive Director of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) has announced the appointment of Julie Frantsve-Hawley, RDH, PhD as their new Executive Director.
Dr. Hawley received her PhD from Harvard University's Biological and Biomedical Sciences program, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. She also attended the Executive Scholars Program in Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, and is currently pursuing accreditation as a Certified Association Executive through the American Society for Association Executives. Prior to pursuing graduate education, she spent over a decade in clinical practice.
Dr. Hawley led the American Dental Association's Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) efforts for 10 years, beginning in the department of Scientific Information before being promoted to Director and subsequently Senior Director of the ADA's Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry. During that time she launched many dental science initiatives including educational programs, faculty development workshops, a website dedicated to promoting the use of clinical studies in dentistry, and clinical practice guidelines. She has also received grant funding from the National Institutes of Medicine (NIH), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and dental industry. Dr. Hawley is currently on the board of the Friends of the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and holds an appointment at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry.
