SYRACUSE, New York, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- A $10,000 donation from Just Energy to the Care and Share Energy Fund supports local elderly and disabled residents facing energy related emergencies. Cory Pritchett, Senior Regional Sales Distributor of Just Energy presented the check to Richard F. Blansett, Director of Public Support, American Red Cross of Central New York. Just Energy's generous donation of $10,000 provides emergency heating assistance to over 40 families across New York State.

The Care and Share Energy Fund is managed by the American Red Cross. More than 30,000 upstate households have received help through the Care and Share program. Individuals and households facing difficult financial situations can always turn to the program for support and care.

The program serves households in which a member is 60 or older, or is disabled and receiving Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability, or is experiencing a medical emergency.

The Care and Share program is a resource of "last resort" after all other means of assistance have been exhausted.  Funding for the Care and Share program is provided in large part from energy industry corporations (like Just Energy).
