Keenan "Impact Day" Community Involvement Program Expands in Second Year to Benefit Bay Area Non-Profits and Schools on October 8
TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, has expanded its Impact Day community involvement program in its second year to include Northern California. Keenan associates will assemble a wide range of donated goods, in conjunction with the company's annual meeting, to benefit non-profit organizations and school districts in the Bay Area.
The Northern California Impact Day will take place at the South San Francisco Conference Center on Wed., Oct. 8, from noon to 3:30 p.m. It is expected that nearly 200 Keenan associates will participate. Keenan has a total of 675 employees in nine offices in California, including branches in Oakland, Redwood City, San Jose, Pleasanton, Rancho Cordova and Eureka.
"To see a ballroom full of people having so much fun and gaining so much satisfaction from making a difference in people's lives is truly a memorable experience," said Keenan President and CEO Sean Smith. "We determined that it was an enterprise that should be expanded to offer the same opportunity for our associates in Northern California and to help organizations in a part of the state that is very important to us."
Organizations set to benefit from Impact Day in Northern California are:
- Bay Area Crisis Nursery (Concord)
- Bay Area Rescue Mission (Richmond)
- Fred Finch Youth Center (Oakland)
- San Mateo County school districts
Hundreds of donated items will include boxed lunches, toiletry kits, backpacks with assorted school items, classroom kits for teachers, paracord bracelets for military troops, fleece blankets for children and adults, teddy bears, clothing, sports equipment, children's books and plush toys for the non-profits. In addition, the San Mateo County Office of Education will receive approximately 200 teacher kits containing items teachers often need but cannot always obtain due to budget constraints, including construction paper, staples, glue sticks, tissues and sanitizer.
The Conference Center's catering company, California Catering, will be providing the boxed lunches at cost and donating 500 cookies. Keenan has also reached out to many of its vendors for their support of this initiative by donating products, services and personal time.
