Kellogg and Walmart: Fighting hunger together, one box at a time
BATTLE CREEK, Mich., April 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
- In 2013, 1 in 6 Americans, and 1 in 5 children, struggled with hunger.1
- Around the world, 805 million people face hunger. That's 1 in 9 of us.2
If you're reading these stats thinking "There's nothing I can do to fight hunger" – think again.
Walmart just launched its largest hunger relief effort to date, "Fight Hunger. Spark Change," to provide 75 million meals to Feeding America and its network of food banks across the U.S. The retailer invited Kellogg Company to participate in the initiative because of our ongoing global commitment to hunger relief.
Here's where you come in.
Head to your local Walmart. Now through May 3, every time you purchase any of the specially-marked Kellogg's foods at Walmart – including Kellogg's Special K®, Frosted Flakes®, Froot Loops®, Apple Jacks®, Corn Pops®, Pop-Tarts®, Rice Krispies Treats®, Pringles®, Kellogg's® Fruit Snacks and Keebler® Ready Crust - Kellogg will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal ($0.10) to Feeding America, up to 17 million meals in total3.
All donations will benefit local food banks in the community where the product was purchased.
Why is Kellogg focusing its efforts on hunger relief? As a leading global food maker, we want to make sure no one goes hungry in our world, especially children. And of course, Kellogg is synonymous with great-tasting breakfast foods, so naturally we believe in the power of breakfast to feed better days and better lives.
In 2013, we launched our global signature cause, Breakfasts for Better Days™, with a pledge to provide 1 billion servings of cereal and snacks – more than half of which are breakfasts – to children and families in need around the world by the end of 2016. In the first two years of this program, we have donated more than 900 million servings of cereal and snacks in support of hunger relief. Donations made through the "Fight Hunger. Spark Change" program will support our Breakfasts for Better Days goal.
Final food for thought: If everyone reading this joins Kellogg to "Fight Hunger. Spark Change", we'll make a difference in helping our neighbors – right in the communities where we live – who face hunger each and every day.

3 1 item = 1 meal. For each purchase of specially marked Kellogg's items from April 6 to May 3, 2015, Kellogg's will donate the monetary equivalent of 1 meal ($0.10) to Feeding America®.
