CANNES, France, June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading global public relations agency Ketchum was honored with a Bronze PR Lion for work on behalf of Caritas International earlier this week at the 63rd annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France. The award recognized Caritas International's "Keys of hope" program, which was conducted in partnership with BBDO Group Germany, in the Content-Led Engagement & Marketing category.
"With more than 2,200 entries in the PR Lions this year, it takes exceptional work to rise above the clutter and stand out among the world's very best of marketing communications," said Rob Flaherty, partner, CEO and president of Ketchum. "It is a proud moment for Ketchum to accept this award today, because it means the work we do in partnership with our clients truly breaks through and makes a difference."
Ketchum and its clients were shortlisted in an additional 10 categories across the Entertainment, Media, Music for Entertainment, PR and Promo & Activation Lions.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity was established in 1954 and is generally viewed as the pinnacle event of the annual awards season for the global communications industry. A delegate from Ketchum or one of its affiliate agencies has served on the PR Lions jury since 2009, the first year public relations was included in the competition.
For the sixth consecutive year, Ketchum sponsored the Cannes Young Lions Marketers Competition, designed to recognize talented young in-house marketers, age 30 or under, working for client companies in 17 countries around the world. The Young Marketers have the opportunity to showcase their ideas in front of industry leaders from top global companies attending the Cannes Lions Festival. In addition, this year Ketchum hosted two panels on the Cannes Lions main stage. On June 20, Ketchum presented The Art of the Deal: Let's Make a Movie, a live negotiation session between documentary film director Adam Carolla and a Hershey's brand to take the first step in producing a brand-funded feature film. On June 22, Ketchum presented Content for the Ages – All of Them, which explored age-agnostic marketing. Ketchum representatives also posted their insights and observations during the festival through the agency's #KetchumCannes hub (https://www.ketchum.com/cannes-social-2016).
In 2009, Ketchum was honored with one of the first-ever PR Lions for its "Häagen-Dazs Loves Honey Bees" campaign in the Corporate Responsibility and Environmental Issues category. In 2011, Ketchum, as part of OneVoice, won a Silver PR Lion in the Technology and Manufacturing category on behalf of Philips for its "Parallel Lines" campaign. In 2013, Ketchum won seven PR Lions and two Promo & Activation Lions across nine different categories. In 2014, Ketchum won two PR Lions and one Promo & Activation Lion across three categories. And in 2015, Ketchum won a Bronze PR Lion with client Fashion Revolution.
