KeyCorp named to DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity List for 2014
KeyCorp also ranked in Top Ten for Supplier Diversity and Diversity Councils
CLEVELAND, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- DiversityInc announced that KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY) took the 47th spot on the 14th annual Top 50 Companies for Diversity rankings before a gathering of more than 750 attendees last evening at Cipriani Wall Street. More than a thousand public and privately held companies competed for spots on the coveted list. KeyCorp also ranked in the top ten on DiversityInc's specialty lists:
- # 8 Company for Supplier Diversity
- # 7 Company for Diversity Councils
"Earning a spot on the DITop50 proves that management is paying close attention to the needs of their primary constituents—employees, customers and other key stakeholders," said DiversityInc founder and CEO, Luke Visconti. "Companies with great reputations attract the best and most skilled employees who then create and deliver the best products and services. It's a virtuous cycle that enables public companies on the DiversityInc Top50 list to consistently outperform the major domestic stock market indices and privately held companies to surpass their peers."
"We are stronger as a company and a community when we hire, support, and collaborate with diverse individuals who bring with them unique backgrounds and ideas," said KeyCorp Chairman and CEO Beth Mooney. "Our efforts to continuously build an environment of diversity and inclusion are a source of pride. We are grateful to DiversityInc for the recognition and all they do to advance corporate America."
The rankings are determined by an objective methodology that calculates factors such as Talent Pipeline, Equitable Talent Development (including commitments to mentorship and philanthropy), CEO/Leadership Commitment, and Supplier Diversity. The empirical data for the rankings is provided by a 300-question survey filled out by personnel at the participating companies. Survey participation is free to any company with at least 1,000 U.S. workers.
"Led by Chairman and CEO Beth Mooney, a visible diversity proponent, Key has strong employee resource groups, plus an impressive track record of partnering with community organizations and diverse suppliers," said DiversityInc founder & CEO Luke Visconti.
