Keystone Engineering Inc. "Twisted Jacket" Foundation Design Selected as Part of Department of Energy Offshore Wind Project Funding
MANDEVILLE, La., May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The US Department of Energy has announced three offshore wind farm projects to receive up to $47 million in US government funding grants over the next four years to advance offshore wind technology and pave the way for the United States' first offshore wind developments.
Louisiana-based Keystone Engineering Inc. has been selected to supply the engineering and design works for its patented Inward Battered Guide Structure, or "twisted jacket", a wind turbine support structure for two of the three selected projects. Keystone's innovative sub-structure and foundation design solution reduces fabrication and installation costs, resulting in more competitive and sustainable energy production.
Following the public announcement of the DoE funding grants at the American Wind Energy Association meeting in Las Vegas this week, Keystone's founder Rudy Hall stated "…We are grateful for the opportunity to participate during this pioneering time for the US offshore wind industry. Personally, it is extremely satisfying to lead Keystone Engineering at this time and see the dedicated efforts of our talented team of engineers and designers recognized by the US DoE for their innovative work in offshore wind engineering."
Keystone Engineering Inc. is also pursuing offshore wind projects in Europe and Asia.
