KickButtImmunity Project Fundraiser -- an Effort by Doctors to Raise Money for Patients and Educate the Public of Immune Disease Prevalence in the U.S.
NEW YORK, Jan. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, immune diseases affect upwards of 22 billion people. No one is "immune" to immune deficiency. In fact, up to 10% of men, women and children live with immune diseases that reduce their quality of life. Increased risk of infection, memory problems, cardiovascular disease, joint, muscle and nerve pain, fatigue, malnutrition, and premature death are just a few examples of immune-related problems. Cancer, autoimmune thyroid disease, Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis are just a few examples of the hundreds of different immune-related diseases that affect millions of Americans.

Founded in 2012, the KickButtImmunity™ Project's mission is to help those with immune disease raise money to pay for the health care of their choice, while simultaneously raising awareness in the community of the importance of the immune system for maintaining health and delaying the onset of immune diseases that reduce quality and length of life.
Drs. Michael Wald and Nilay Shah, and Mr. Sunny Seward, Clinical Nutritionist, of Integrated Medicine in Mount Kisco, New York, are the sponsors of this unique project. The KickButtImmunity™ Project was born out of Dr. Michael Wald's personal battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
This past year the KickButtImmunity™ Project reached out to firemen in White Plains, New York, to help reduce their substantially increased risk of cardiovascular disease (partly an immune disease), through exercise and dietary efforts. The KickButtImmunity™ Project's success with firemen was featured on the front page of the Westchester Journal News.
A 21-year-old college student stricken with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) received $15,000 towards her health care expenses when Dr. Michael Wald ran the Philadelphia Marathon on her behalf.
A 50-year-old woman with ovarian cancer received over $50,000 in cash and credit towards her holistic medical care – all of this made possible through the KickButtImmunity™ Project's strong commitment to help real people stricken with devastating disease.
