Kids Get Their Own Social Network with Kidsocial™
Kid-centered social entertainment network will partner with National Science Center to teach Internet safety
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- (Toy Fair) -- Kidsocial is the new social entertainment network just for kids that's jam-packed with stuff to do in an environment parents can feel good about. Kids can connect with their real world friends to play games, chat, listen to the latest music, share photos, and much more. Anyone under 13 is always connected to and monitored by a parent, so when you want to connect to a real world friend with a special Friendship Code, the parents will be notified, too. Kids' pages can't be viewed by strangers, and sharing only happens with the approval of your friend's parents.
Kidsocial lets kids interact in a huge online playground made up of real world friends and brands kids know and love. When kids gather on Kidsocial, they can challenge each other for bragging rights in online games, create dozens of cool avatars, watch episodes of their favorite shows, or just hang out and chat. Kidsocial also uses special family-friendly filters to present content from streaming services like Hulu, YouTube and Grooveshark .
Kidsocial is teaming up with the National Science Center (NSC) and Kratos Technology & Training Solutions later this summer to host a full slate of fun and information activities as part of the NSC CyberOps program geared toward educating kids on the need for Cyber Safety, Cyber Ethics, and Cyber Security. The CyberOps program will teach kids more about topics like cyber bullying, network risks and cyber careers.
"We've especially designed Kidsocial to be a fun place with tons of activities where kids can jump right in and start playing with their real world friends," said Tim Baio, founder of Kidsocial. "Our team has extensive experience with designing kids' online spaces and environments, so we're very excited to be partnering with the National Science Center and Kratos on this project."
In the closed Kidsocial website, encrypted Friendship Codes allow only connections with real-life friends, and scalable controls let parents approve connections and monitor activity. Baio and his team have been entrenched in the virtual worlds and kids space since 2005 and have been developing Kidsocial over the past 36 months.
