HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Aug. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The water treatment process is ever-changing. Technology is a big part of that change, and Komax is working to provide that technology to municipalities and water districts, to help improve their processes. With an in-house CFD capability, it's now possible to see, in real time, what the flow conditions look like so water districts can understand the best approach moving forward.
Municipalities and water districts around the country are looking to do what they can, to upgrade their processes and make things energy efficient. The Channel Static Mixer is an excellent alternative to the mechanical mixing in water channels, providing cost-effective, high efficiency mixing and low headloss.
Komax Systems has long been part of that upgrade process and with the help of the CFD analysis they are able to show their customers the results they will achieve, even before installation.
"While we design several products for water treatment facilities, one of our most unique is the channel mixer. It can be designed and installed in any cross section channel and can be removable or fixed within the channel. The mixing efficiency can be simulated in-house through CFD design and has also been field tested to be up to 98%, in previous installations. We've also proven reduced chemical consumption and high levels of energy savings," said Sameer Kshirsagar/Sr. Applications Specialist.
The Advantage of Komax
The hi-pass mixing elements allow debris to pass through without clogs or problems. Each mixing element in combination sweeps approximately two thirds of the circumference of the pipe and directs the flow to the opposite side, providing very strong 'wall to wall' radial transfer, thereby dispersing chemicals evenly into water. Chemicals are added through several injectors connected to the upstream end of the mixer.
Thanks to the addition of the real-time CFD modeling, several orders for these unique mixers are already in place.
