Korean Food Foundation to Showcase the Best of Korean Food and Culture in an Unprecedented Celebration at the 2016 Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival Presented by Coca-Cola October 15, 2016
NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Capitalizing on the rising fervor in the United States for all things Korean, the distinctive foods and traditions of this energetic peninsula will meet Western techniques when the Korean Food Foundation brings the best and brightest in the food world to the 2016 Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Coca-Cola (NYCWFF) this October.
The flavors and colors of Korea will be on dazzling display at Koreatown Eats presented by the Korean Food Foundation hosted by Deuki Hong and Matt Rodbard on Saturday, October 15th. This late-night party taking place at Union Fare, a new modern gastrohall spanning a full city block in Union Square, will feature thirteen of the country's most talented Korean American and American chefs introducing a "New Korean" food experience through their bold innovations with traditional Korean ingredients.
For this one exceptional evening they will create modern interpretations of the delicious and authentic foods of Korea. The line-up includes Cooking Channel personality and London-based chef Judy Joo; Erik Bruner Yang of Maketto in Washington, D.C.; Forbes 30 Under 30 chef Deuki Hong; esteemed pastry chef Belinda Leong of b. Patisserie in San Francisco; James Beard Award-winner Tory Miller of Sujeo in Madison, Wisconsin; and from New York City Esther Choi of Mokbar; Robert Austin Choi of Kimchi Smoke; Amanda Cohen of Dirt Candy; Daniel Holtzman of Meatball Shop; Sohu Kim of The Good Fork I Insa; Yvan Lemoine of Union Fare; Flynn McGarry of Eureka Pop Up and Justin Smillie of Upland. Joining them will be Matt Rodbard, co-author of best selling cookbook Koreatown, and celebrity mixologist Don Lee who will introduce attendees to some of the most delicious soju and bokbunjajoo-based cocktails this side of Seoul.
Koreatown Eats will be a celebration of food discoveries. The spicy, smoky, sweet and funky flavors of this "New Korean" cuisine will direct attendees to the chefs who have prepared gochu ribs, kalbi meatballs with ssamjung sauce, smoked kimchi chili and kimchi cheese ramen among many other dishes. Mixologists will be preparing cocktails infused with traditional Korean liquors, curtains will be drawn on the intimate Karaoke lounge and K-pop tunes will have the crowd entranced.
On the other side of town for the fourth consecutive year, the Korean Food Foundation will also have a presence at the Festival's Grand Tasting presented by Shoprite featuring Samsung® Culinary Demonstrations presented by Mastercard® taking place October 14th – 16th at Pier 94. Junsoo Bae, sous chef of world-renowned Gramercy Tavern, will present and serve Korean dishes steeped in centuries old traditions and paired with modern techniques.
