Kountoupes Denham Carr & Reid Announces New Name Partners As The Firm Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary
WASHINGTON, Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kountoupes Denham Carr & Reid (KDCR Partners) officially announced its new partners today as the firm marks its 10th anniversary this year. Julie Hershey Carr and Randi Reid have been named partners. The firm's diverse clientele includes Volvo Car USA, CVS Health, AdvaMed, Intel, and Best Buy.
"Julie and Randi's elevation to partner is the culmination of years of hard work and a recognition of their invaluable contributions to the firm's steady growth," said Lisa Kountoupes, founder and President of KDCR Partners. "From day one, both colleagues worked tirelessly to meet our mission to deliver high value and results for our clients. In an era of information overload, Julie and Randi guide our clients with a strategic, targeted approach to Washington policymaking."
Julie Hershey Carr served as Legislative Director for U.S. Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA), a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, former Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee Chairman, and a leader among the House conservatives. Since joining the private sector, Hershey Carr has helped guide clients through several reauthorizations of the medical device user fee, worked to stave off multiple reimbursement cuts in Medicare SGR bills, increased patient safety in radiation therapy and helped modernize laws governing how video content is shared on social media through the Video Privacy Protection Act.
"Julie is a trusted friend and colleague that I've known for years. I'm thrilled that she has earned this partnership,'' said Mike Bloomquist, Deputy Staff Director of the House Energy & Commerce Committee. "Julie has a keen understanding of political dynamics across the ideological spectrum, and more importantly, knows how to navigate the politics to achieve real results."
"I have known and worked with Julie for years, particularly considering her strong Pennsylvania roots. She has always been a total professional with a great feel for the legislative process," said U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA). "I congratulate Julie on her continued success."
Randi Reid previously served as Legislative Director for U.S. Sen. Michael Enzi (R-WY) for five Congresses in 2005-2013. Enzi is a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee, former Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the current Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. She also served a stint in the House, with her home state Representative, current Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael Burgess (R-TX), and in state government, working for then Texas Governor George W. Bush.
"Randi was a rock-solid member of my team for many years. In an environment prone to partisanship, she was invaluable in helping me successfully navigate the complex legislative dynamics as Chairman of the Senate HELP Committee and a member of the Senate Finance Committee when she served as my Legislative Director," said U.S. Sen. Michael Enzi. "Her judgment, focus and strategic counsel were right on target, and I congratulate her on her great success in the private sector."
In 2017, the firm has added eight new clients, building on its already strong roster of Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and non-profit organizations, which they represent before Congress and the federal government.
"I've worked with Lisa and the KDCR team over the last decade. What I value is that I always got the principals in the firm -- their best judgement, strategic counsel, candor and accountability," said John Schaeffler, Executive Global Government Relations Leader at General Electric & GE Healthcare. "What I value the most is that they delivered results for our company and industry regardless of the political environment."
The firm was founded in 2007 by Kountoupes after she held a series of senior positions in the White House, executive branch and the United States Congress. "As long as federal government policy affects people's lives and livelihoods, results-driven government affairs work will continue to be in high demand in Washington, and we will continue to deliver," added Kountoupes.
Partner Lori Denham joined the firm in 2008. She previously served for more than four years as executive vice president of government affairs and industry operations for the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA). Prior to RILA, Denham worked on Capitol Hill for Rep. Cal Dooley (D-CA) for more than 13 years in a variety of roles including Legislative Director and Chief of Staff.
The firm's areas of expertise will remain in healthcare and workforce, technology and transportation, energy and agriculture and retail. More on the firm can be found at www.KDCRPartners.com.
