La Part des Anges 2014
Charity Auction Featuring Exceptional Cognacs on Thursday, September 18th, 2014
NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac), the Cognac Board promoting the producers and products of the region, announces the 9th edition of "La Part des Anges", an international event taking place Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Abbaye de Bassac.
The annual event consists of a prestigious auction of exceptional Cognacs during a gala dinner. This year, 25 stunning, special edition Cognacs will be featured, made specifically for this event by well-established Cognac houses. In addition, a special work by a French artist will also be put up for auction.
This event has raised more than half a million euros for various public interest projects since its inception in 2006, and this year it expects to raise even more than last for the two charities it is funding: the international organization, Children in Crisis, and the local French charitable association, Restos du Coeur. The Founder and Life President of Children in Crisis, Sarah, Duchess of York, as well as the Co-chair of the program, Princess Eugenie d'York, will be in attendance to show their support and raise awareness of the charity's cause.
The Cognacs being offered at the event have been aged and blended specifically for the auction, and are extremely rare, high quality eaux-de-vies. As explained by the auctioneer of the 2013 event, Vincent Gerard-Tasset, "Almost all these decanters are unique; each cellar master is entirely free to create this special blend."
As in years past, there will be awards given to the individuals who have had the greatest impact on the Appellation this year. Two awards will be given: "International Cognac Writer of the Year" and "International Cognac Personality of the Year."
The art being showcased this year is by designer, Philippe Seys, who works in both France and Russia and is known for his Cognac-inspired artwork, jewelry, and precious objects. Local chefs will craft a sumptuous dinner menu, each dish being paired with a special Cognac.
