Ladybug House Asks: "If 2016 Were Your Child's Last Year, How Would You Celebrate Every Day?"; Announces New Fundraiser
Seattle technology startup Money Clouds™ will donate all transaction fees for the Ladybug House "45k in 45 Days" fundraiser to build the first children's hospice in Seattle.
SEATTLE, Jan. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the world celebrates 2016, it's a time to reflect on the past and ponder the future. But what if your new year was met with an unexpected diagnosis, limiting your life, or worse: your child's life?
"If you lose your parents, you're an orphan, if you lose your spouse, you're a widow(er), but what if you lose your child? There is no name for that. It's an unspeakable, unimaginable loss," said Suzanne Gwynn, founder of Ladybug House - a non-profit that aims to build the first palliative care home and hospice for children and their families in Seattle. The nurse of 32 years has seen children with life-threatening illnesses spend hundreds of days, and often their last days, in the hospital – away from their family, friends, and beloved pets.
Ladybug House has embarked on a fundraising campaign with tech startup Money Clouds™ and aims to raise $45,000 in 45 days, ending the campaign on Valentine's Day.
"Offering support in the form of a palliative care home is not just a good idea; it's a social responsibility," said cancer survivor Caitlin Foster, Director of Community Development for Money Clouds™. "Currently, there are only two such houses in the United States, while there are over 3,200 for adults, and over 400 for our pets."
"I know that when people learn about the need for Ladybug House, they will understand this is not an issue we can afford to ignore," said Gwynn. "If we cannot add days to the life of a child, we will add life to their days."

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the mission of Ladybug House is to build and operate the first freestanding, community-based pediatric palliative care home and hospice in Seattle. A place for respite and renewal to families and their children with life-limiting illnesses. This care will be provided with no out of pocket cost, in a caring homelike environment, allowing everyone involved to Celebrate Every Day.
