Lancope Appoints Government Sales Executive John Sellers as Vice President of Federal Markets
Sellers to leverage more than 20 years of experience in federal IT sales to help Lancope fulfill the needs of its growing government customer base
ATLANTA, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in network visibility and security intelligence, announces the appointment of government sales professional John Sellers as vice president of federal markets, responsible for all selling activities to the U.S. federal government. Sellers has more than 20 years of experience selling IT and security solutions to government organizations across the globe, spearheading federal sales for companies including Palo Alto Networks, Blue Coat Systems, CrowdStrike and Nortel Networks. Throughout his career, he has significantly increased federal revenues for multiple security companies, implemented successful federal channel programs, built strong federal sales teams and worked with product management teams to design federal feature requirements into various security solutions.
"John has done it all when it comes to federal sales, and we are extremely excited to have him on board to make sure we continue to meet the unique needs and strict requirements of the government sector," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "John is intimately familiar with the federal market, and will play a huge role in helping us deepen our relationships with government customers while staying on top of rapidly evolving federal security mandates and compliance regulations."
Prior to joining Lancope, Sellers initiated the federal practice at security start-up CrowdStrike as the company's federal regional manager. Before joining CrowdStrike, he was the senior director of federal sales at Palo Alto Networks, achieving triple-digit year-over-year revenue growth over multiple quarters.
Previously, Sellers served as the senior director of federal sales at Blue Coat Systems and was also a national account manager for the federal marketplace at Nortel Networks. Earlier in his career, he served as a network engineer for an IT and networking provider that purchased his small VAR business.
"Today's government organizations are clamoring for innovative technologies that will help them obtain continuous security monitoring and more fortified networks," said Sellers. "By providing pervasive network visibility and in-depth security context, Lancope's StealthWatch® System can help federal organizations dramatically improve their risk posture and better comply with increasingly stringent security mandates. I look forward to working with Lancope's myriad federal customers to help them achieve these important goals, while also helping additional organizations in the federal space realize the benefits of comprehensive, 24/7 network and security intelligence."
Sellers holds a BA in finance from James Madison University and is based in the Washington, D.C. area. Further information on Lancope's offerings for the government sector can be found at: http://www.lancope.com/solutions/industries/government/.
