Lancope To Host Webinar on Easing the Transition to IPv6
Flow-based monitoring can help federal agencies meet September 30 IPv6 transition deadline
ATLANTA, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, will host a complimentary webinar on Thursday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. ET / 8:00 a.m. PT to help organizations more easily transition to IPv6. Flow-based monitoring can assist organizations in meeting IPv6 transition milestones including the impending September 30 deadline for U.S. federal agencies. Those interested in the free webinar can register at: http://www.lancope.com/news-events/webinars/easing-the-transition-into-ipv6-with-netflow/.
Based on a government mandate, U.S. federal agencies must deploy IPv6 on their public-facing websites by September 30. While the private sector is not under quite as strict a deadline, the reality is that IPv4 addresses are quickly dwindling, and soon enough all organizations will have to make the switch.
Unfortunately, many companies are hesitant to migrate to the new protocol due to uncertainties surrounding how their infrastructure will operate once it is in place. However, in order for the Internet to continue functioning properly and securely, all companies and government organizations need to be planning for the transition now.
"While some may not see the immediate need for IPv6 migration, they need to consider the far-reaching implications for Internet security should the majority of companies lag behind," said Chris Smithee, strategic solutions architect with Lancope and the presenter for the webinar. "All organizations should at least be in the early planning phases for the cutover to help preserve the integrity and security of today's computing infrastructure."
Lancope has been collecting and analyzing IPv6 traffic since 2008 to provide advanced network visibility, performance and security. NetFlow-based monitoring solutions like Lancope's StealthWatch® System can help ease the transition to IPv6 by tracking how network devices and applications behave before, during and after the cutover, helping to mitigate any anomalies before they become a serious issue. Join this webinar to learn how flow collection and analysis can help governments and enterprises make the conversion to the new protocol:
