Lantiq Highlights IPv6-Ready CPE Solution During World IPv6 Launch Day "IPv6 CE Ready" certification demonstrates company leadership in readying customer premises equipment for transition to next-generation Internet
MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, June 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, said today that it is taking part in World IPv6 Launch Day on June 6. A milestone in the transition to the next generation Internet Protocol, World IPv6 Launch Day marks the commitment of service providers, websites and home networking vendors to permanently enable IPv6 for their products and services. To help its customers meet that commitment, Lantiq has completed sanctioned testing to certify that its customer premises equipment (CPE) broadband access chipsets and Universal Gateway (UGW) software packages are "IPv6 Ready."
Lantiq's XWAY™ xDSL and network processor Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) and UGW software suite received the "IPv6 CE Ready" designation after successful tests at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL). This assures that manufacturers of home routers/gateways are enabled to develop future-ready solutions based on Lantiq chips and software.
Comprehensive Home Gateway Solution
Evolution to a next-generation Internet based on the IPv6 protocol is required to provide unique IP addresses for all devices operating on the worldwide network. For equipment manufacturers, support for the extended addressing scheme requires both SoC-level and firmware/software innovation. Lantiq is among the first communications SoC suppliers to provide this support in its broadband access products.
- IPv6 certification testing was conducted on Lantiq's portfolio of dedicated ADSL2/2+, VDSL2 and Gigabit Ethernet SoCs to ensure that customer premises router/gateway can be enabled to support IPv6 connectivity to the Internet
- The broad range of WAN interfaces supported by Lantiq SoCs assures equipment manufacturers of flexibility to support worldwide access standards
- The complete Lantiq portfolio for on-premises networking, including Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi™ and G.hn compliant products, supports a very modular system approach to maximize development reusability and achieve optimized system cost.
"Lantiq is committed to providing the right technology at the right time for our partners to deliver the best possible customer experience," said Rainer Spielberg, Vice President of Marketing for Lantiq. "The next generation of the Internet clearly includes IPv6, and we are very proud to take a leadership role among chip suppliers in providing full support for this important step in the development of the next-generation broadband access network."
Lantiq XWAY xDSL and network processor SoCs – including the xRX100, xRX200 and xRX300 product families and the company's Universal Gateway (UGW) software suite – are available for design of IPv6-capable router/gateway systems.
