BOSTON, July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- NORTHERN, founder and pioneer of User Data Management (UDM) as a corporate strategy to meet the challenges of accelerating accumulation of user-generated data, today announces that one of Canada's 'big five' banks has reached a milestone in the adoption of UDM and has begun preparations for the next phase of organizational integration.
Having identified inefficiency and risk in their existing strategy for control over file service use, the bank approached Northern looking for an alternative. Using a thorough and controlled process Northern and the bank were able to replace this previous system with a more efficient and resilient solution. Control over, and insight into, the use of the bank's file services were increased, while cost and administrative complexity were reduced.
Northern's CEO, Jonas Areskoug commented on the background for Northern's involvement: "Many policies were already in place but they were unreliable, inefficient and lacking business participation. There was little incentive for the lines of business to follow the policies and no tools available to help them do so. We know from our experience that this type of organizational integration is key for successful UDM."
The bank is now preparing for the next phase in their implementation of UDM; further adapting the organizational culture and operating procedures to extend the returns available.
Jonas continues: "We're working with the bank to perform three integrations with their ITSM architecture. In preparation for the introduction of cloud technologies, the bank is working with Northern to ensure that UDM policies are in place from day one, as standard ITSM workflow steps. We're also integrating with HR processes to ensure orphaned data is taken care of at the point of user exit. The third integration will see Data Stewards within the business assigned to all common shares, putting responsibility for the data in these shares firmly in the hands of the users or groups who are using them. This is true adoption of UDM and the laboratory work promises impressive results."
