SUGAR LAND, Texas, Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Santrol, a Fairmount Minerals company, announced a large North American natural gas operator completed one of its most prolific wells with 20/40 OptiProp G2® proppant.

The operator chose OptiProp G2 because it improves hydrocarbon production with superior long-term conductivity while preventing proppant flowback and eliminating potential activation in the wellbore.
The Santrol line of curable, resin-coated proppants—encapsulated with proprietary G2 technology—protects the proppant from premature curing until the appropriate temperature and closure stresses are applied. The proppant base is 99.8% pure-quartz Northern White sand for superior strength. Operators use Santrol proppants for their shale basin hydraulic fracturing projects to improve oil and gas production.
"By supplying our OptiProp G2, Santrol is pleased to be part of such a significant new discovery," said Van Smith, executive vice president of Santrol.
This important discovery, one of the operator's largest ever, initially produced 7,000+ barrels of oil equivalent per day. The combination of technical skills and best-in-class products enabled superior results.
