Larry Tawwater Sworn in as President of National Trial Bar
WASHINGTON, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Oklahoma City, Okla., attorney Larry Tawwater has been sworn in as the president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at the organization's annual convention in Montreal. AAJ is the world's largest trial bar and is a powerful voice in protecting consumer rights and preserving the civil justice system. It provides educational tools for its attorney members and serves as one of the most forceful advocates for consumers on Capitol Hill.
Tawwater, a partner in the Tawwater Law Firm, P.L.L.C., has been practicing law for over three decades. He has dedicated his career to fighting for the rights of injured individuals and represents consumers in a wide variety of cases.
"When I started my legal career, I knew right away that representing plaintiffs fit perfectly with my vision of the law -- which is helping people achieve a level of fairness," said Tawwater. "I am honored to serve as AAJ's president and I look forward to doing my part to ensure that our Seventh Amendment rights are not diminished in any way."
In addition to his litigation practice, Tawwater has been involved in efforts to protect consumer rights and strengthen the civil justice system in the state of Oklahoma. He was appointed by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to help revise the court's own rules and draft jury instructions for use in civil trials in Oklahoma. Tawwater sits on the Board of Governors for AAJ and previously served as the Association's president-elect. He is also a past president of the Oklahoma Association for Justice.
In addition to Tawwater, AAJ's new set of officers includes President-Elect Julie Braman Kane of Colson Hicks Eidson in Coral Gables, Fla.; Vice-President Kathleen Nastri of Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder, PC in Bridgeport, Conn.; Secretary Elise Sanguinetti of Arias Sanguinetti Stahle & Torrijos LLP in Oakland, Calif.; Treasurer Bruce H. Stern of Stark & Stark of Lawrenceville, NJ; and Tobi L. Millrood of Pogust, Braslow & Millrood in Conshohocken, PA.
As the world's largest trial bar, the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) works to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others--even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.
