CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lash Group's ACA Coverage Expansion (ACE) Service Center, the industry's first patient support solution designed to help navigate Affordable Care Act (ACA) - driven resources, has now connected more than 200,000 U.S. patients to healthcare coverage. The ACE Service Center was developed to support patients in securing prescription drug coverage after the passage of the ACA and is one of many Lash Group programs that have collectively helped more than 12 million patients afford and stay adherent to their medications.
The ACE Service Center connects patients with insurance options that provide coverage that is aligned with their current medication therapies. During open enrollment in 2014, 27 percent of the patients who gained coverage through the ACE Service Center transitioned from manufacturer patient assistance programs (PAPs) to a health insurance exchange or Medicaid plan. During the transition period, 100 percent of patients received seamless and uninterrupted coverage in their therapy as ACE partnered closely with the patient, provider and PAP.
"Today, more than ever, patients need resources to navigate the complexities in healthcare, gain access to coverage and stay adherent to treatment," said Tracy Foster, President of Lash Group. "We saw this as an opportunity to innovate a new way of putting patients first. The ACE Service Center was created as a natural extension to our business and to complement support programs manufacturers currently offered by leveraging our expertise in the space."
With more than 20 years of experience as a market leader in patient access, affordability and adherence services, Lash Group empowers patients with information so they can choose the plan that works best for their needs. To support the ACE Service Center, Lash Group partnered with Xcenda, also part of AmerisourceBergen, to create a new formulary search tool. This resource enhances access by helping patients better understand how and what plans can provide coverage for their individual therapy needs.
"Manufacturers who provide patients and providers with best-in-class support offer a wide array of services to help patients overcome challenges to access, affordability, and adherence." said Amy Grogg, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Commercialization at AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group. "We are committed to developing solutions that improve product access and add value throughout the patient journey, while also reducing administrative burdens on providers so they have more time to dedicate to patient care."
