Laura B. Brinkley, APN, is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Dec. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Laura B. Brinkley, APN, is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Healthcare as a result of her role as Office Manager with Gibson Area Orthopedics.

Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services employs more than five hundred individuals, residing in over forty area communities. The hospital strives to be a model of excellence in community based healthcare, and they offer personalized and professional healthcare services to the residents of the neighboring communities. 

Inspired by Florence Nightingale, Laura began her career in healthcare in 1969 as a registered nurse holding positions as a staff RN in several hospitals, a manager, nurse practitioner and more. In her current position as clinic director, Laura's duties include the oversight of daily operations, program management, inpatient management, and patient safety. She also helps mentoring nursing students and advanced practice nurses.

In addition to clinical nurse practitioning, she is the director of orthopaedics, sports medicine, pain treatment and cardiology where she supports the providers who provide those service lines and is responsible for office flow as well as the flow of surgeries throughout the facility.

In order to keep up with the latest advancements in the industry, Laura maintains affiliation with the National Association of Clinical Providers, National Association of Professional Women, National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses and the Illiniois Society for advanced Practice Nurses.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, knitting, gardening, travel and horseback riding. Laura owns two horses, and is charitable towards organizations including St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, National Army Rangers Association and The Hope House.

Throughout the course of her education and training, Laura received her Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis, and graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Driven by the joy of helping patients, Laura's goals for the future are to continue working until she is seventy so she can retire and travel.
